What with all the backyard work we are doing, buying a used rototiller, and Christmas coming up we decided to cook out of our pantry and freezer this week. Believe it or not we had two hams in our freezer. Last week we bought a couple of ham's for 99 cents a pound and put them in the freezer. One was spiral sliced -we will keep that one for the Thanksgiving (we love both ham and turkey), and this one that we will use today is a regular picnic ham.
Today I'll make more of a traditional dinner with ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, and biscuits. Then there will be ham and cheese omelets, ham sandwiches, and dinners like Ham and Noodle Casseroleto have with the leftovers this week. So a $9.00 ham goes a long ways.
Ham with Coke and Brown sugar
9 lb picnic ham
1 can coke
1 1/2 cup of brown sugar.
Preheat oven to 325. Mix together coke and brown sugar. Take a knife and cut triangles on top of ham in order to let the glaze seep through. Pour glaze over top. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes per lb or until heated through.

Jane,
We definetly could live off a month from stuff in our pantry --i just might have to get a little more creative though after a week or so!
